Commonly associated with C. sordidus. Recently recognized as distinct species. Geographical range: Central and Western Pacific from the Ryukyu and Ogasawara Islands, Australia (Queensland), Micronesia, the Hawaiian Islands, the Line Islands, east to the Pitcairn Islands and Rapa.
